The bigger you get your going to be forced to pin the quad. Reaching across a 50" chest is more difficult than across a 34" chest and when you include the wrist pronation it makes it even harder. I usually only get mild pin pain from quad pins, maybe a 1 - 3 at the worst, but some times when pinning I can see and feel the quad twitch during the plunge, this happens for me more in the lower parts of the upper outside quadrant. I used to freak but now I just ride it out, and yes I dart my quads almost all the way in and then slow push the final 1/2 inch or so, darting never seemed to be an issue with the quad.

Various lesions can cause acute or chronic pain in the abdominal wall. Localized tenderness often occurs in surgical scars several months after surgery because of the formation of neuromas. Endometriosis tends to recur in surgical scars. 7 , 8 Hematomas of the abdominal wall or rectus sheath can occur spontaneously or after surgery, trauma or pregnancy. 9 , 10 Desmoid tumors can also cause chronic abdominal pain. 11 Athletes have been found to develop abdominal wall pain related to myofascial tears or idiopathic intra-abdominal adhesions. 12 , 13

The side effects of cortisone shots occur right away or within 48 hours of receiving the shot. The most common side effect of a cortisone shot is pain at the injection site. You may experience soreness in the muscle group that surrounds your affected joint. You may bleed a bit immediately after getting the shot. You also might notice a slight discoloration of your skin at the site of the injection in the days directly following the shot. Another common side effect is aggravation of the inflammation that the shot was intended to treat. This inflammation flare up is called a “cortisone flare.”

The hormone is synthesized and secreted from alpha cells (α-cells) of the islets of Langerhans , which are located in the endocrine portion of the pancreas. Production, which is otherwise freerunning, is suppressed/regulated by insulin from the adjacent beta cells. When blood sugar drops, insulin production drops and more glucagon is produced [14] In rodents, the alpha cells are located in the outer rim of the islet. Human islet structure is much less segregated, and alpha cells are distributed throughout the islet in close proximity to beta cells. Glucagon is also produced by alpha cells in the stomach. [14]
